BF6 Players Concur: Challenges Are Overly Demanding
The release of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 received significant enthusiasm, particularly for its flagship multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, concurrent player counts surged to nearly 750,000. However, in spite of its success, many players are protesting against a portion of the release's toughest challenges, which are required to obtain particular firearms.
Gamers have begun resorting to custom matches set up using the custom game tool to finish these tasks, highlighting just how grueling these missions have become.
Comprehending BF6 Assignments
Tasks represent Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, different from the regularly refreshed daily and weekly challenges. It features four categories of assignments, but although many simply offer outfits and select equipment, achieving the firearm tasks is the sole method of getting 12 of the 41 primary weapons present in the game.
Some of these locked weapons could shortly find their way on rosters of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.
Community Frustration across Reddit
Over on Reddit, players are understandably sharing their frustrations about how hard and tedious a number of these challenges are. A particular gamer emphasized one of the most extreme examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
- Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs
"This mission is so terrible and completely out of mind, I want to tear my hair out," is a quote that summarizes just how excessively challenging these tasks are.
Suppression in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it lacks nearly as many positive effects in fights as it used to in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.
At the same time, using an LMG from the hip is highly imprecise and functions solely at very short distances, which isn't typically where you prefer to be. The commenter also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that challenge would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and conversely.
Another Extremely Difficult Challenge
Another Reddit user pointed out an additional excessively hard challenge, this time in the marksman rifle class to access the PSR:
- Achieve 150 headshot eliminations from more than 200 meters away with long-range weapons
This is difficult enough by itself, but there's another important point to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at those extended distances.
There is a decent selection of map sizes, but since there are only nine battlegrounds in the game right now, it restricts you to playing New Sobek City, a particular valley environment, and possibly Operation Firestorm in a best-case scenario if you want to snipe from beyond 200 meters.
The Bypass
There is a workaround though: the portal. This portal feature is a feature that enables you to make custom game modes on any map you prefer, complete with bots. This means you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't really seem like the intended gameplay experience.
However, when doing the challenges in a standard match appears to work against fun, since you are forced to participate in such an unorthodox manner that doesn't benefit you or your team, is it surprising for grinding them out in a personal session so squad members are not disadvantaged?
Future Adjustments
It is expected if several of these tasks are made easier in the coming days or weeks, because if they're not, a portion of the user base simply are unlikely to obtain the gated weapons.
For now, the audience continues to voice their opinions on these strenuous multiplayer missions, anticipating a fairer player experience in coming revisions.
