Springfield's Favorite Family Makes Its Debut in Psyonix's Hit Game: Unfortunately Not the Vehicle Fans Are Dreaming Of

We already knew that The Simpsons was teaming up with Fortnite, but that's not the only destination where enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the universe of Springfield. The beloved show is coming over to Rocket League, bringing along an in-game car skin that will also be compatible in the Fortnite universe. However, whether players will actually want to equip it is a different matter, as fans have their hearts set on just one Simpsons car the community is eager to drive, and this new offering isn't that one.

What Fans Really Want

Although most players would absolutely enjoy to compete behind the wheel of The Homer—the notoriously impractical car the patriarch designed himself in the classic episode "the one where he meets Herb"—that's not what's being offered. We aren't even getting the Canyonero, the heavy-duty vehicle showcased in season 10. Instead, fans will obtain the Simpsons' standard well-worn four-door, which they've been driving since the show's early days. Even though this particular car has accumulated plenty of miles, it remains an recognizable symbol of the series. For those who analyze the game's car hitboxes, the Simpson family car uses the identical collision model as the Dominus body type.

Additional Themed Cosmetics

But that's not the only customization item from the show coming to the game. The event will also include a set of objectives to unlock additional goodies, all of which are Simpsons-themed. As detailed in a official announcement, the challenges will task players to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are The Simpsons years on air, gather boost canisters as if your navigation is set to The Simpsons’ residence, and drive a distance sufficient for acquiring the perfect donuts!"

While the complete list of earnable items isn't yet disclosed, here is what has been confirmed up to this point:

  • Blinky topper
  • Homer's hedge-themed banner
  • Garbage-themed wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

If the key art is any indication, it appears fans will also receive wheels with a TV displaying the show's title sequence, alien antenna toppers, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and rocket boosts themed to smoldering rubber and Krusty Burger.

Launch Dates and Crossover Details

The Rocket League collaboration coincides with the major The Simpsons invasion of Fortnite, which brings a brand-new map of the fictional town, in addition to a 30-day Battle Pass. This special Rocket League and Simpsons event begins on Saturday, Nov. 1 and ends on Nov. 17.
